ANNOUNCEMENT
CROATIAN PHILHARMONIC to Feature American Artists
On Wednesday,
September 20, at 8 p.m. CROATIAN
PHILHARMONIC will present its Fall Gala
at the concert hall of Hrvatski Glazbeni Zavod, Zagreb, featuring American
artists and repertoire. The Philharmonic will be
lead by the prominent Croatian-American maestro Zvonimir Hacko
in performance of the works of Lisinski, Copland, Rodrigo, and Mozart.
Of special interest will be the Croatian premiere of Aaron Copland's
lively ballet suite Appalachian Spring. Grammy
award winning American guitarist Sharon
Isbin will
highlight the evening with her legendary interpretation of Joaquin Rodrigo's
great classic, Concierto de Aranjuez. The program will close
with a tribute to Mozart in celebration of
his 250th anniversary with
a performance of his Jupiter Symphony. Ambassador Robert A. Bradtke
and his staff as well as other foreign and Croatian dignitaries will be
the honored guests at the concert. A reception will follow, courtesy of
the American Embassy in Croatia.
Isbin to Give a Master Class and a Public
Presentation
On September 19, guitarist Sharon Isbin
will give a master class at the Zagreb Academy of Music,
and a talk "My Life as an Artist" at the American
Corner, Zagreb Public Library (times to be announced).
